The Virgin Mary in the “Deesis” scene, located in the south gallery of Hagia Sophia, is depicted on the Hagia Sophia Mosaic Vase.

The Deesis Mosaic, which is dated to the end of the 13th century and the beginning of the 14th century, has survived to the present day although it is in the form of ruins. Throughout the whole scene, the Prophet Jesus sitting on the throne in the center, the Virgin Mary kneeling with a gesture of prayer and John the Baptist are seen.

The Hagia Sophia Mosaic Vase is made of handmade glass, and all the relief patterns on it are handcrafted with 24-carat gold gilding, and each of the mosaic pieces is individually painted with special glass paint. Handmade glass mosaic vase.
